Commercial Vehicle Drivers Favour Van Diesel
Manchester UK (PRWEB) September Tuesday 1st, 2009 -- An online survey of 1,000 Swinton commercial van insurance (http://www.swinton.co.uk/commercial/van/) customers revealed that 72% of van drivers are considering trading their petrol van in for a diesel-powered one in the wake of increasing petrol costs.
With claims that petrol is on the verge of returning to the sky high prices of last summer combined with this week's fuel duty increase and the end of the reduced rate of VAT, van drivers are increasingly looking for ways to cut their outgoings.
Earlier this year, hauliers from across the UK gathered at Marble Arch in order to protest the cost of petrol, with many claiming that high prices are reducing their quality of life.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton, said: "Diesel is often a more economical fuel choice and we are seeing an increase in the number of drivers seeking van insurance quotes for diesel vehicles.
Drivers who cover long distances or spend a lot of their time on the motorway should consider a diesel engine for fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. However, if you cover shorter distances and spend more time driving in town, where air quality is a greater consideration, a petrol engine could be a better and more economical choice."

Does the Stereotypical "white Van Man" Still Exist?
Ever since Radio 2 DJ Sarah Kennedy coined the phrase ýWhite Van Maný in 1997, drivers of these ubiquitous commercial vehicles have been tarnished with a reputation that precedes them wherever they drive
Hearing the phrase ýWhite Van Maný instantly conjures up images of aggressive, intimidating and discourteous male drivers who hog the road, tailgate old ladies, flash their lights, regularly line their arteries in greasy spoon cafes (when theyýre not on the road), drive recklessly with no regard for their fellow road users, display several copies of The Daily Star on the dash and canýt drive past a pretty girl without commenting on her pleasing appearance
How Does the Scrappage Charge Help Small Businesses?
In 2009's Budget, the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, announced a new 'car scrappage? scheme designed to encourage motorists to buy new cars The scheme started on the 18th May and is available to the first 300,000 eligible claimants or until the end of February 2010, depending on which comes first
Lady Van Drivers Insure For Less
For many years, the image of ?White Van Man? has haunted the highways and byways of Britain The looming presence of a white van in your rear view mirror suggested that the driver was likely to be male, somewhat aggressive in his roadcraft skills and probably in a hurry
